Nike Releases New Green Bay Packers 2012 Uniforms

Nike's 2012 Green Bay Packers Jersey

Nike's 2012 Green Bay Packers Jersey

Nike and the NFL have teamed up to create new home, away and alternate jerseys for all of the 32 NFL teams.  Above is a look at the first Green Bay Packers’ jersey that has been released. You can see the rest of the NFL jerseys here.

Clearly Nike was afraid to change one of the most beloved and long standing jerseys in the NFL, as there aren’t many obvious changes to this version of the jersey.  The colors have all remained generally the same on the pants and jersey, with only the shoes gaining a slight makeover.

As you can see, the new Nike jerseys are supposed to make the players in the NFL faster.  It will be interesting to see come game time whether or not the players actually appear faster.  All I know is that if Nike was able to make B.J. Raji look like Usain Bolt, I’ll be extremely impressed.

Considering the changes made to some of the teams like the Seattle Seahawks, Nike made the correct decision by keeping the majority of Green Bay’s new jersey the same.

Nike doesn’t have the authority to just up and change a teams uniform. Not sure what people were expecting. They did however change the material used for most uniforms in the NFL. Green Bay declined the new fabric changes and is sticking with a similar construction to what they had last year. We’ll see if they jump on board with the new fabric next year.

Yes, Nike can’t change a team’s uniform design, but other teams did take the opportunity to make changes. The Packers didn’t.

Seattle is soon to be known as the “Tinkerbells.”

Only Lombardi can change the Packer uniform.

why did we decline the uniforms? They seem almost identical in design. Just different material… Weird. Well I dont care too much it doesn’t make too much of a difference just curious.

One other change is the gloves that form the team logo when held together the right way – we saw these at the Pro Bowl this year.

My only nit is that I’d like to see some striping on the socks.
