Packers vs. Vikings Week 8 Game Predictions from AllGreenBayPackers.com

GAME PREDICTIONS
Week 8: Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Name Record To-Date This Week’s Pick Score Prediction
Kris Burke 3-3 Green Bay Packers 28-17
Adrian Peterson will still have a solid game, but he is going to learn this is not the 2012 Packers defense. Jared Allen is the lone bright spot on an otherwise woeful defense and will challenge David Bakhtiari.  Still, the Vikings are terrible and Green Bay wins this one pretty easily.
“Jersey” Al Bracco 4-2 Green Bay Packers 33-19
If Christian Ponder starts, I think this game will be a little closer than expected. Not that I’m impressed at all, but Ponder has had some success against Green Bay, he’s playing for his job, and the games are always closer in the Metrodome.
Adam Czech 5-1 Green Bay Packers 27-24
This game is going to be closer than people think. I know, I know. It’s the Queens, and they’re even more of a mess than usual right now, but you don’t lose the caliber of players that the Packers have lost and just waltz into the Metrodome and cruise to an easy win. Adrian Peterson will want to show that he’s still the best RB in the league after a slow last couple of weeks. Christian Ponder will want to show that he deserves his starting job back. Leslie Frazier is coaching for his job. The Packers will win, but expect a battle.
Marques Eversoll 5-1 Green Bay Packers 23-17
Fortunately for the WR-thin Packers, Minnesota’s secondary is atrocious. If the Packers’ offensive line can keep Aaron Rodgers upright, they should have no problem outscoring the Vikings. Ultimately, it’s too much Eddie Lacy, too much Jordy Nelson and too many points for the Vikings to match. However, I do think it’ll be closer than many are expecting. If I were a gambling man, I’d take the Vikings with the points (+9).
Thomas Hobbes 4-2 Green Bay Packers 27-13
I think the biggest concern for the Packers is how well their newbie outside linebackers handle Adrian Peterson, both Mulumba and Palmer graded out negatively against the run last game as both overran running backs trying to get to the quarterback; if they can keep in line with a strong defensive line I think they can hold Peterson to manageable gains.  On offense, Aaron Rodgers will have to continue to make something out of nothing while Eddie Lacy churns out yards
Cory Jennerjohn 5-1 Green Bay Packers 34-24
The Vikings’ carousel of quarterbacks continues on Sunday night when Christian Ponder makes his first start since Sept. 22. Ponder is looking to get his first win since Dec. 30, 2012 when Minnesota beat Green Bay 37-34 at Mall of America Field. The only way this game is within a touchdown is if Adrian Peterson gets involved. The Vikings have the best pure runner in the game and the last time he had more than 13 rushes was Sept. 29 in London. Aaron Rodgers will slice through the Vikings porous secondary with quick outs, hitches and slants as a way to attack Minnesota’s menacing starting defensive line that has 5.5 sacks.
Jason Perone 5-1 Green Bay Packers 34-17
Minnesota starts fast, as they usually do in the dome.  Perhaps a Patterson kick return to the house.  In his quest to help Greg Jennings exact some revenge on his former team, Christian Ponder gets careless with the football and has the Vikings brass scouring the waiver wire for their next quarterback.  Rodgers & Co. (whoever that may be from week to week) will get it done and another big divisional win on the road.
Chad Toporski 4-2 Green Bay Packers 34-10
Jarrett Boykin topped 100 receiving yards in his first game as a starter with Aaron Rodgers. Greg Jennings hasn’t topped 100 yards yet this year with his revolving door of quarterbacks. Expect to hear a lot of “Go Pack Go” from the Metrodome, as Vikings fans hide their faces in shame.

If the Packers are healthy they win this game easy. But they have 3 rookies on offense who have never played in the Metrodome noise before. We may see a few motion penalties. Beyond that the Vikings will look to make up for their abysmal showing on MNF. The Packers need to:
    1. Stop Peterson
    2. Protect Rodgers
    3. Cover well on special teams
    4. Not turnover the football
    5. Avoid dumb penalties

It looks like Starks, Hayward and Brad Jones will return this week. We can use all the reinforcements that we can get at this point and they are 3 experienced players. Hopefully the Packers can silence the crowd with some early scores and get a few turnovers off Ponder. I like the Pack at 30-13. Thanks, Since ’61

    Pack 24
    ViQueens 21

MM will go conservative on offense. Queens will rely heavily on AD. Queens have big ST advantage. Jennings will score one or two TDs.

While the Gophs…oops, I mean Vikes, have been porous on defense this year in general, they’re still very weak in their secondary. I think the Packers will try to throw early on them and then run when the Vikes empty the box. Last week’s game showed that Boykin can play, so I don’t expect MM to dial it back too much, even with Finley down.

I need to read all the replies before I post!

I concur with this, but I think they’ll run hard early to keep Allen honest, then get aggressive passing, and ultimately mix it up to keep the Vikings D completely discombobulated.

I don’t think the Packers want to “Go conservative” vs. a Vikings team that runs with Adrian Peterson..

That sounds to me like getting into a clock control game vs. the best running back in the NFL, and that doesn’t sound like a high percentage game for the Packers.

I do expect they run Lacy/Starks right at Jarred Allen, and occasionally toss a screen behind Jarred Allen- just to slow his pass rush down, and yes, even chew up a bit of clock. However, I also expect to see MM call an aggressive game on the perimeter and challenge a woeful MIN secondary, just like he would if Jones and Cobb were out there.. I have this feeling Miles White is going to get some big opportunities this week- MIN has to honor Nelson, and you can bet Boykin highlights from last week caught the DB room’s attention. White is going to draw favorable coverage.. Watch for him deep off of run action; a DB is more likely to cheat off of White, than bite while covering Nelson or even Boykin.

To me the game can be summed up as Green Bay has S Morgan Burnett and Minnesota does not have SS Harrison Smith. GB wins 34-16.

Packers have Jolly back and he has made a HUGE difference vs the run. Just like he did in ’09 he has been the driving force on the Defense’s toughness, aggressiveness and physicality. Pack holds Petersson to 80 yds or less, Ponder throws 2 INT’s minimum. Packers win going away. 34-17 and its not ever that close till a late meaningless TD.

James David, I agree that the Pack getting Burnett back has been huge and that the viks losing Smith hurts them. But more importantly, the Pack has Rodgers and the Queens have Ponder

With all the players that are injured for the Pack, All that matters in this game is that we get a divisional win, I dont care if its by one pt, and that we sustain no more injuries. Sounds like we will get a few more players back for the bears game, which should be another divisional win .
