Cheesehead Radio News 1-5-12

Al: The lead story of the week has to be Matt Flynn. No matter how much of a Matt Flynn fan you were, you never could have anticipated the game that Flynn had.  Flynn set two Packers all-time franchise records, passing for 480 yards and throwing an amazing six touchdown passes. For his effort, Flynn was named the Air NFL Player of the week, an honor won six times this year by Aaron Rodgers and three times by Drew Brees. Not bad company for a backup quarterback.

Watch the New Aaron Rodgers State Farm Commercial with BJ Raji. Discount Double-check

The other night on Cheeseheadradio, Kyle Cousineau, in his “On the Ground in TitleTown” report, let us know about new State Farm commercials being filmed in Green Bay. He was told by his inside source that BJ Raji and Clay Matthews would be making appearances and sure enough, here is BJ Raji in the first of the commercials released.  Funny stuff… I call it…

Discount Double-Check meets “The Raji”

Packers vs. Lions – Game Day First Impressions, Unfiltered: GB 45 DET 41

Matt Flynn Green Bay Packers

Matt Flynn - Green Bay Packers Starting QB Today

Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions:

Here is my unfiltered game day blog post of comments, observations and first impressions.

In a game that means absolutely nothing to the Packers, Mike McCarthy resists temptation and plants Aaron Rodgers firmly on the sideline in street clothes. Hooray is all I can say. It’s a move that surprises and impresses me. Mike Mccarthy, you’ve come a long way, baby.

Inactive for the Packers today are:

Aaron Rodgers, Charles Woodson, Clay Matthews, Greg Jennings, Randall Cobb, Bryan Bulaga, James Starks

Wow. I’d love to take this group and go 7 vs. 7 in the parking lot against ANYONE.

Sounds like Jones and Zombo are getting starts at OLB today, and we’ll be sure to see plenty of Vic So’oto as well.

Packers vs. Bears – Game Day First Impressions, Unfiltered: GB 35 CHI 21

Green Bay Packer Jordy Nelson against the Chicago BearsGreen Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears:

Here is my unfiltered game day blog post of comments, observations and first impressions.

The Packers “welcome” the Bears to Lambeau Field on Christmas Day with visions of NFC overall first seed dancing in their heads. The Packers are hurting in the trenches on both sides of the ball, but still hope to dominate the Bears, who have lost four straight since losing Jay Cutler. The Packers’ offense will be looking to recapture it’s Rhythm with a re-arranged offensive line. TJ Lang moves to right tackle for Bryan Bulaga an Evan Dietrich-Smith takes over lang’s usual left guard spot. If the offensive line can give Aaron Rodgers some decent  protection, he should be able to shred the Bears’ weak secondary.

Inactive for the Packers today are:

Graham Harrell, Davon House, Frank Zombo, Bryan Bulaga, Chad Clifton, Ryan Pickett and Greg Jennings.

Packers are in much better shape at the running back position, as James Starks and Brando Saine return to give the Packers their full compliment of four running backs

Davon House, after a surprise appearance on the active list last week, returns to his usual spot on the sidelines in street clothes.

Packers Santa Says: Time to Start a New Streak

Packers Santa

Packers Santa

Last year at this time, Packers Santa and I traveled to Green Bay to deliver a bag of coal to Mike McCarthy. You see, Packers Santa always knows if they’ve been bad or good. Last year around Christmas time, the Packers were coming off of two straight losses and had lost three out of their last four games.

The bag of coal must have gotten the message through because the Packers beat the Giants that week and hadn’t lost a game since… until last week.

Now, we’re not about to give McCarthy a bag of coal over one loss, but I’ve discussed this with Packers Santa, and we’ve decided on this little message:

He will be bringing all of the Packers a clean sheet of paper. Something to record their next winning streak on…

As the Packers embark on this new journey towards a second straight Super Bowl, I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to everyone that reads, comments and frequents this site. It’s a tremendous amount of fun hanging out with everyone here, and truthfully, it’s you, the reader and your participation and feedback that makes all of this hard work worthwhile.

CheeseheadRadio News 12-21-11. They Actually Lost a Game Edition

CheeseheadRadio News:

Al : Well, there’s no doubt what the lead story is tonight. The Green Bay Packers no longer have a donut at the end of their record. The Packers suffered their first loss at the hands of the KC Chiefs after an ugly performance by the Packers while the Chiefs did everything right. The Packers finally met their trap team, ironically, just as C.D. stopped calling every game a trap game.

Jayme: As if losing wasn’t bad enough, the Packers offensive line was decimated during the game, adding injury to insult, so to speak. Bryan Bulaga left the game with a knee injury and then his replacement Derrick Sherrod, suffered a double leg fracture. The Packers quickly put Sherrod on Injured Reserve and signed street free agent Herb Taylor, a former backup with the Chiefs who hasn’t made a roster in 2 years. Bulaga will not be ready for the Bears, but Chad Clifton did some limited practicing today, so perhaps he may be available in the near future.
