Al: Well, Packers fans, I’m afraid the quest for a perfect season in 2012 is over before it even got started.  Green Bay had the misfortune of having to open up against in what my opinion is the the best overall team in the NFC. The Packers confirmed my fears that they just weren’t ready yet for this type of contest. But there’s still plenty of season for this team to grow and they now know the level of performance they’ll have to raise their game to.

Jayme:  Talking about the game to the media, Mike McCarthy was typically understated in commenting on two recurring issues, the lack of a running game and miscommunication in the secondary. McCarthy said he’d like to see the team have, as he called it, “some semblance of a running game.” McCarthy then promised the secondary coaches would spend 10 to 15 minutes discussing the issues in the 49ers game.  Read more... Randall Cobb does a nice job in this interview, butI have to laugh at the poll in the second half of this video. The question was “What is the Packers biggest weakness?” 46% of responders said running back, 29% secondary, 17% pass rush, 7% offensive line. So the Packers’ pass rush was just a minor problem, huh? Shaking my head…

Here’s a very interesting breakdown by Mike Florio of the National Football Post of the video the NFL claims shows Anthony Hargrove saying “Give me my money.” I don’t agree with Florio on many things, but I believe he is right on the money (pun intended) with this one.

There is NO way anyone can watch this video and conclude it’s Anthony Hargrove saying those words. It might be him, and it might not. Lets take a look:

Today, Florio spoke with NFL General Counsel Jeff Pash, who told Florio this about the video: “…demonstrates Mr. Hargrove’s awareness of the program and his understanding that it existed, and it demonstrates that his statements to our investigators in early 2010 denying the program and saying there was nothing like that  in existence were false.  That is the basis on which the Commissioner imposed discipline on Mr. Hargrove.” Here is that video:

Florio is quick to point out that Pash’s point is pretty much invalid if Hargrove didn’t say it himself, Florio writes,  ”His second point continues to depend, however, on a finding that Hargrove and no one else said, “give me my money.”  And the video simply does not prove that.”

Now, I’m not suggesting there wasn’t a bounty program, we all know there was. I’m only saying that this particular piece of “evidence” the NFL is touting, which happens to affect Anthony Hargrove directly, does not prove what the NFL says it proves.  Read more...
