Play The Draft With Us – NFL Draft Contest

Is the boredom of no football on Sundays and endless conjecture about free agents, pro days, and draft picks getting on your nerves? Is the empty hole that is filled with fantasy football normally slowly eating away at your soul? Well my friend, this isn’t gonna help any of that, but the All Green Bay Packers staff would like to invite you to play Play The Draft instead!

For those of you that don’t know, every year we host a fantasy football league where we pit the writers, including our dear leader Jersey Al, with readers of the website.  We’re hoping to do something similar during the offseason with Play The Draft and myself, Jersey Al, Adam and Cory will take part. (It’s FREE to play)

Essentially the game works somewhat like stock trading (which might become real soon) but instead of stocks of companies you trade stocks of rookies looking to be drafted.  Everyone who plays will be given a same amount of money and then allowed to buy stocks of players they think will be drafted well and after the draft, each player will be “sold” at a value based on their draft selection.  For instance, last year I bought EJ Manuel stock at a middle second round value and when Manuel was drafted in the middle of the first, I made a huge profit.  You can also buy and sell players at any time, so again for instance I bought Geno Smith stock early on and sold off his stock for a profit before his reputation went down the tanks.  The value of a player’s stock will rise and fall based on real world news; so if a player has a great pro day his stock will rise or if he gets arrested, his value will fall (though he might become good value if it doesn’t effect his draft status).

Anyways, Play The Draft is a rather new game with last year being its first season, so at the end of the year we’d like to get some feedback from all the participants about whether or not the game was worth playing and whether we should set up a league next year.

There are 10 open spots for you readers. If you’d like to play with us, please comment below and be sure to enter your email address in the appropriate field.

Who knows . . . maybe you could be throwing down the gauntlet with us next season.

Week 5 Summary

SuperYooper left the ranks of winless teams in AllGBP Official, picking up a victory this week and improving to 1-4. Heisenberg remained undefeated and in the league lead with a win over Sitton your Head. Optimal Butt Height dropped the most this week, falling from third place to sixth. The Jolly Rodgers went in the other direction, rising from fifth to third. Four teams in the league are on winning streaks.

The Hoshmazodes 110.16, Lost in Minnesota 89.42

  • The Hoshmazodes (5-0, 565.56) earned a 110.16 – 89.42 win over Lost in Minnesota (0-5, 468.70), thanks in part to Peyton Manning, who led the team with 36.76 points.

The Jolly Rodgers 136.84, St. Cecilia’s HS 130.26

  • The Jolly Rodgers (4-1, 574.84) put up the highest score of the week and got by St. Cecilia’s HS (1-4, 598.36), 136.84 – 130.26. It was the smallest margin of victory of the season for The Jolly Rodgers and the win was the team’s third straight.

Open Invitation to the 2013 ALLGBP Fantasy Football League

Peyton Manning quarterbacked TouchedByTedThompson to the 2012 league Championship. It's now time for another season.

Peyton Manning quarterbacked “TouchedByTedThompson” to the 2012 ALLGBP Fantasy Football Championship.

This invitation will work a lot better–and be a lot more exciting–if you open this video (HINT: it’s Jock Jams) in a separate window before continuing to read.

“And look at him go, and look at him go. He could. Go. All. The. Way.”

After a successful inaugural season in 2012, the AllGBP.com Official Fantasy Football League is back for round two.

We made history a year ago. First, we instituted this prestigious league. And second, we successfully badgered The Boss into playing Fantasy Football for the very first time. Jersey Al used a team-first approach in assembling a group of guys who valued friendship and hustle. As a result, his team went 7-6 in the regular season and earned a spot in the playoffs.

From the Writers Division, Adam Czech and I joined Al in the playoffs. Here are last year’s standings for the Writers:

2012 Writers Division
*1. Rockwood Lodge (9-4)
 Marques Eversoll
*2. The Gilbert Browns (7-6) Adam Czech
*3. St. Cecilia’s HS (7-6) Jersey Al
4. Jordy’s Stiff Arm (6-7) Chad Toporski
5. Calvinball (5-8) Thomas Hobbes
6. Salute Your Jorts (4-9) Kris Burke
* Playoff berth

My team, “Rockwood Lodge” racked up a league-leading 1624 points last season but laid an egg in the playoffs. Unfortunately for the content-producing side of the league, our combined playoff record was 0-3.

The Readers Division ran right through the postseason. Despite top-seeded “Finley Named My Kids” losing a 1.52-point heartbreaker in his first playoff game, the Readers went 5-2 in the playoffs, boasting the league champion “Touched By Ted Thompson.” The champs won the league despite not having a single Green Bay Packer on the final roster.

Here’s how the Readers ended up last season:

2012 Readers Division
*1. Finley Named My Kids (11-2)
 Sam Goodwin
*2. TouchedByTedThompson (8-5) QOTSA1
*3. Lambeau’s Legends (7-6) HBuff
4. Milwaukee Packers (5-8) Abraham
5. SuperBowl or Bust (5-8) topgbpackfan
6. Cheeseheads (4-9) Matt Bove
* Playoff berth
League champion

Now, one-time Fantasy Ice Bowl Champion Ian, will look to defend his title in 2013 in a 14-team league.

AllGBP added Jason Perone to the staff after the beginning of last year’s fantasy season, so in appreciation of Jason’s ongoing contributions to the site and his overall swell character, he’s being welcomed as the seventh member of the Writers Division. To balance it out, we’ll be adding another team to the Readers side as well.

AllGreenBayPackers.com Fantasy Football League: Week 11 Update & Power Rankings

AllGBP.com Fantasy Football LeagueWelcome to our weekly update for the AllGreenBayPackers.com Fantasy Football League! For those that are unaware, the AllGBP.com staff started a league this year to see who could take home the trophy between them and some of their readers. Please continue to check back each week as the drama unfolds, and don’t at all hesitate to throw around the smack talk! Who knows . . . maybe you could be throwing down the gauntlet with us next season.

Week 11 Results:

  • Rockwood Lodge (124.42)
    over Jordy’s Stiff Arm (67.34)
  • St. Cecilia’s HS (112.60)
    over The Gilbert Browns (42.26)
  • Salute Your Jorts (119.66)
    over Calvinball (110.30)
  • Finley Named My Kids (93.12)
    over Cheeseheads (62.94)
  • TouchedByTedThompson (91.00)
    over Lambeau’s Legends (88.22)
  • Milwaukee Packers (131.84)
    over SuperBowl or Bust (118.04)

Standings:

Writers Division

  1. The Gilbert Browns, Adam Czech (7-4-0)
  2. Rockwood Lodge, Marques Eversoll (7-4-0)
  3. St. Cecilia’s HS, “Jersey” Al Bracco (6-5-0)
  4. Calvinball, Thomas Hobbes (4-7-0)
  5. Salute Your Jorts, Kris Burke (4-7-0)
  6. Jordy’s Stiff Arm, Chad Toporski (4-7-0)

Readers Division

  1. Finley Named My Kids, Sam (9-2-0)
  2. Lambeau’s Legends, Henry (7-4-0)
  3. TouchedByTedThompson, Ian (7-4-0)
  4. SuperBowl or Bust, Earl (4-7-0)
  5. Milwaukee Packers, gbmb34 (4-7-0)
  6. Cheeseheads, Matt (3-8-0)

Power Rankings

  1. Rockwood Lodge (1) – This next matchup is going to be huge. In Week 12, The Rock will face off with The Gilbert Browns for first place in the Writers Division, and the loser will be battling it out with a St. Cecilia’s HS that’s not out of the fight.
  2. Finley Named My Kids (4) – They’re almost like the 2011 Green Bay Packers. This team has a great record but some serious weaknesses. Half of the league scored higher than them this week, yet they still walked away with a win.
  3. Lambeau’s Legends (2) – Losing to TouchedByTedThompson this week just put the Legends on notice. The only thing saving them right now is their overall points on the season.
  4. The Gilbert Browns (3) – If this team wants some serious street cred, then they’ll need to do better than 42.26 points . . . the lowest score of any team this season.
  5. TouchedByTedThompson (7) – In a rather inglorious manner, this team just helped their playoff chances immensely. The win over the Legends gives them a tying record, but they’ll need to continue their success in order to take the playoff spot completely.

AllGreenBayPackers.com Fantasy Football League: Week 10 Update & Power Rankings

AllGBP.com Fantasy Football LeagueWelcome to our weekly update for the AllGreenBayPackers.com Fantasy Football League! For those that are unaware, the AllGBP.com staff started a league this year to see who could take home the trophy between them and some of their readers. Please continue to check back each week as the drama unfolds, and don’t at all hesitate to throw around the smack talk! Who knows . . . maybe you could be throwing down the gauntlet with us next season.

Week 10 Results:

  • Milwaukee Packers (124.04)
    over Jordy’s Stiff Arm (86.70)
  • Rockwood Lodge (123.76)
    over Lambeau’s Legends (72.66)
  • SuperBowl or Bust (113.08)
    over St. Ceclia’s HS (100.26)
  • The Gilbert Browns (120.92)
    over Cheeseheads (86.06)
  • Finley Named My Kids (123.50)
    over Calvinball (74.68)
  • TouchedByTedThompson (80.84)
    over Salute Your Jorts (78.14)

Standings:

Writers Division

  1. The Gilbert Browns, Adam Czech (7-3-0)
  2. Rockwood Lodge, Marques Eversoll (6-4-0)
  3. St. Cecilia’s HS, “Jersey” Al Bracco (5-5-0)
  4. Calvinball, Thomas Hobbes (4-6-0)
  5. Jordy’s Stiff Arm, Chad Toporski (4-6-0)
  6. Salute Your Jorts, Kris Burke (3-7-0)

Readers Division

  1. Finley Named My Kids, Sam (8-2-0)
  2. Lambeau’s Legends, Henry (7-3-0)
  3. TouchedByTedThompson, Ian (6-4-0)
  4. SuperBowl or Bust, Earl (4-6-0)
  5. Milwaukee Packers, gbmb34 (3-7-0)
  6. Cheeseheads, Matt (3-7-0)

Power Rankings

  1. Rockwood Lodge (2) – The Rock took its Week 7 loss to heart and has been busting down the scoreboard ever since. Any team with the likes of Doug Martin and A.J. Green should be feared.
  2. Lambeau’s Legends (1) – After riding a 6-game winning streak, the Legends fell to Earth this week against the top-ranked Rockwood Lodge. Perhaps it was just a bad week . . .
  3. The Gilbert Browns (5) – They’re sitting pretty with a 7-3 record, but with four games left, they can’t count their chickens just yet. An interesting stat provided by Yahoo: “If they played the same schedule as Cheeseheads, The Gilbert Browns would be 4-5.”
  4. Finley Named My Kids (3) – Despite the best record in the league, this team just isn’t the dominant force its record might indicate. They should be able to crack the playoffs without too much worry, but TouchedByTedThompson is closing in for the steal.

AllGreenBayPackers.com Fantasy Football League: Week 6 Update & Power Rankings

AllGBP.com Fantasy Football LeagueWelcome to our weekly update for the AllGreenBayPackers.com Fantasy Football League! Please continue to check back each week as the drama unfolds, and don’t at all hesitate to throw around the smack talk! Who knows . . . maybe you could be throwing down the gauntlet with us next season.

Week 6 Results:

  • Jordy’s Stiff Arm (128.32)
    over The Gilbert Browns (103.88)
  • Calvinball (149.28)
    over Rockwood Lodge (96.44)
  • St. Cecilia’s HS (132.24)
    over Salute Your Jorts (58.50)
  • Finley Named My Kids (88.22)
    over SuperBowl or Bust (85.70)
  • TouchedByTedThompson (111.76)
    over Milwaukee Packers (101.56)
  • Lambeau’s Legends (119.12)
    over Cheeseheads (100.14)

Standings:

Writers Division

  1. The Gilbert Browns, Adam Czech (4-4-0)
  2. St. Cecilia’s HS, “Jersey” Al Bracco (4-2-0)
  3. Rockwood Lodge, Marques Eversoll (3-3-0)
  4. Jordy’s Stiff Arm, Chad Toporski (3-3-0)
  5. Calvinball, Thomas Hobbes (2-4-0)
  6. Salute Your Jorts, Kris Burke (2-4-0)

Readers Division

  1. Finley Named My Kids, Sam (5-1-0)
  2. Lambeau’s Legends, Henry (4-2-0)
  3. SuperBowl or Bust, Earl (3-3-0)
  4. TouchedByTedThompson, Ian (2-4-0)
  5. Milwaukee Packers, gbmb34 (2-4-0)
  6. Cheeseheads, Matt (2-4-0)

Power Rankings

  1. Lambeau’s Legends (Up 2) – Finally finding some consistency, the Legends are back at first in the power rankings. The top three teams, though, all seem poised to be the big contenders for the playoffs.
  2. Rockwood Lodge (Down 1) – The Rock saw its first sub-100 point game so far this season, and it was against a team in Calvinball that came to play. They’re still tops in the league, though, so this week’s loss can’t be seen as much more than a short moment of weakness.
  3. Finley Named My Kids (Down 1) – As “Jersey” Al was so quick to point out last week, a win is a win. This team, though, only won by 3 points and didn’t even hit the 90 mark. Having the best record in the league only means so much.
  4. Calvinball (Up 2) – This team may be 2-4, but they’ve been extremely productive, putting up over 100 points in every game since Week 2. Their only problem is that they’ve had the second-highest total amount of points scored against them across the season.

AllGreenBayPackers.com Fantasy Football League: Week 5 Update & Power Rankings

Please continue to check back each week as the drama unfolds, and don’t at all hesitate to throw around the smack talk! Who knows . . . maybe you could be throwing down the gauntlet with us next season.

Week 5 Results:

Lambeau’s Legends (119.60) over Jordy’s Stiff Arm (88.30)
Rockwood Lodge (163.48) over TouchedByTedThompson (96.28)
St. Cecilia’s HS (89.06) over Cheeseheads (65.28)
Finley Named My Kids (136.96) over The Gilbert Browns (115.30)
SuperBowl or Bust (114.72) over Calvinball (110.04)
Milwaukee Packers (94.76) over Salute Your Jorts (76.34)

Standings:

Writers Division

  1. The Gilbert Browns, Adam Czech (4-1-0)
  2. Rockwood Lodge, Marques Eversoll (3-2-0)
  3. St. Cecilia’s HS, “Jersey” Al Bracco (3-2-0)
  4. Salute Your Jorts, Kris Burke (2-3-0)
  5. Jordy’s Stiff Arm, Chad Toporski (2-3-0)
  6. Calvinball, Thomas Hobbes (1-4-0)

Readers Division

  1. Finley Named My Kids, Sam (4-1-0)
  2. Lambeau’s Legends, Henry (3-2-0)
  3. SuperBowl or Bust, Earl (3-2-0)
  4. Milwaukee Packers, gbmb34 (2-3-0)
  5. Cheeseheads, Matt (2-3-0)
  6. TouchedByTedThompson, Ian (1-4-0)

Power Rankings

  1. Rockwood Lodge (Up 1) – Finally made it to the top of the heap with a statement win. Though it was against a much inferior opponent, The Rock put up enough points this week to put any team to shame.
  2. Finley Named My Kids (Up 1) – In giving the Gilbert Browns their first loss of the season, this has become the team to beat in the Readers Division.
  3. Lambeau’s Legends (Down 2) – As was expected, the Legends didn’t spend long at Number One, but they’re breathing heavily down the neck of Finley Named My Kids.
  4. The Gilbert Browns (Same) – They put up a respectable fight this past week, but it wasn’t enough against a top-tier team. They’ll need to do more to make themselves a force to be reckoned with.
  5. SuperBowl or Bust (Same) – Squeaking out a win by just a 4-point margin, this team maintains its place above Calvinball for another week.
  6. Calvinball (Same) – Losing RGIII hurts, especially when they were just four points away from winning. Matt Ryan should be a suitable replacement, but it’s not a complete fix.
